Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Car Magnet

Have you seen her gracing the highways?

The Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Car Magnet was first created in 2010 and has made her way onto the sides of thousands of cars all across America AND internationally!

This is Part one of a two part series explaining the miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. You can read part two, here.

The Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Car Magnet is extremely striking and beautiful because it is an image created by God himself.

This image of Mary is a miracle.

Here is the story of how the Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe came to be:

On December 9th, 1531 Our Lady appeared to a Juan Diego, and asked him to approach the Bishop with the request to build a Church in her honor in the place of her apparition (which was the site of a former Aztec Temple). She explained that it would be a place for her to hear the prayers of, and heal the sufferings of the Mexican people, she said:

"My son, I love you. I desire you to know who I am. I am the ever-Virgin Mary; mother of the true God who gives life and maintains its existence.

He created all things. He is in all places. He is Lord of Heaven and Earth and I desire a church in this place where your people may experience my compassion. All those who sincerely ask for my help in their work and in their sorrows will know their mother’s near in this place. Here I will see their fears and I will console men and they will be at peace."

Juan Diego was obedient to Our Lady and went before the Bishop with her message, but he was denied by the Bishop twice. During the second encounter the Bishop asked Juan Diego for a sign. Our Lady, aware of the Bishop’s request for a sign, told Juan Diego to climb to the top of the mountain, where he was to find Castilian (damask) roses - which were not native to Mexico during the month of December, but were native to the Bishops hometown of Castile, Spain.

Castilian (damask) roses - the same roses that our Lady asked Juan Diego to gather to present before the Bishop

Our Lady instructed Juan Diego to pick them and carry them in his tilma and present them to the Bishop. Obediently, Juan Diego went and found the beautiful rose bushes, and gathered the flowers up. When the time came to lay them before the Bishop, Juan Diego unknowingly revealed a stunning miraculous and inexplainable image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The image of Mary on Juan Dieog's tilma is as a native Princess, just as she appeared to him. Of course, the Church was built and has been the source of conversion to God for countless souls. Juan Diego was canonized on July 31st, 2002 by Saint Pope John Paul II at the very Church that she requested was built, the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. St. Juan Diego's original tilma containing the miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is on display at that very Basilica today. This is what the Virgin of Guadalupe said about this Basilica

“I am your merciful mother, the merciful mother of all of you who live united in this land, and of all mankind, of all those who love me, of those who cry to me, of those who seek me, of those who have confidence in me. Here I will hear their weeping, their sorrow, and will remedy and alleviate all their multiple sufferings, necessities and misfortunes.”
